Boating Safety Announcement

Fireworks on Labor Day

Fireworks ???? Boating Safety Announcement

On Saturday, September 3rd, the LRA will host Fireworks from the dike, starting at dusk.  Boater safety is a primary goal, and we request that all boaters follow these commonsense rules.  Common courtesy goes a long way to ensuring a good experience for all!

  • Upon entering the lower basin at Witham Point for the Fireworks, as a courtesy please slow down to avoid wakes that affect other boats.
  • NO-WAKE (idle speed) when departing the fireworks. Boats with yellow flashing lights will lead boats out of the lower basin and up the lake.  Do not pass these boats.  The fireboat will bring up the rear to help anyone needing assistance. The Georgia DNR and our Rabun County Search and Rescue with Michael Crowe will enforce this.
  • After dusk, all boats must display Navigation (red and green) lights and an Anchor (white) light when underway, and an Anchor light when stopped. It is strongly suggested that all boats have a backup source of light.

The WSC wants all our boaters to have a safe and enjoyable experience at our traditional celebration!
