In 1987 the Lake Rabun Association established what is today the Lake Rabun Foundation. In an effort to be good neighbors in the Rabun community, a college scholarship was awarded to a Rabun County High School graduate. Since then over $1.3 million in scholarship aid has been awarded to 200+ Rabun County students.
In 2021 $115,000 has been sent to colleges on behalf of outstanding Rabun scholars. Scholarship grants are funded by the generosity of LRA members. A number of LRA members have established Named Scholarships. Other support comes from fundraising events and contributions to an Annual Fund.
Students at high schools in Rabun County can submit scholarship applications to their high school guidance counselor. Home schooled students should submit applications to the Lake Rabun Scholarship Chair.
