Boating Safety Announcement
Fireworks on Labor Day
Fireworks Boating Safety Announcement
On Saturday, September 3rd, the LRA will host Fireworks from the dike, starting at dusk.  Boater safety is a primary goal, and we request that all boaters follow these commonsense rules. Common courtesy goes a long way to ensuring a good experience for all!
- Upon entering the lower basin at Witham Point for the Fireworks, as a courtesy please slow down to avoid wakes that affect other boats.
- NO-WAKE (idle speed) when departing the fireworks. Boats with yellow flashing lights will lead boats out of the lower basin and up the lake. Â Do not pass these boats. Â The fireboat will bring up the rear to help anyone needing assistance. The Georgia DNR and our Rabun County Search and Rescue with Michael Crowe will enforce this.
- After dusk, all boats must display Navigation (red and green) lights and an Anchor (white) light when underway, and an Anchor light when stopped. It is strongly suggested that all boats have a backup source of light.Â
The WSC wants all our boaters to have a safe and enjoyable experience at our traditional celebration!Â

Can you post some pictures? Mr. Poss’ videos would be wonderful.
Health reasons are keeping away this year. It would be a long way to peddle in a wheelchair. Happy Lake Rabun! Samille Jordan

We will certainly try and many people will be taking photos too!

Thank you! I am so disappointed that I can’t get there this year. It is so beautiful. My favorite part is when we start home and all of the boats are ahead of us. It is truly magnificent and it gives me such a strong feeling of caring and community.
Thank you and I will see you next year! Samille

Just changed the date for the fireworks to 9/3/22 around dusk, perhaps 8:45.
