Scholarship Program

Lake Rabun Association

Lake Rabun Scholarships are available to graduating seniors who have attended a Rabun County high school or the equivalent of a home-school high school for a minimum of two years and are planning to attend either a four-year college/university, a two-year technical college, a combined two-year technical college with an additional two years in a four-year college/university, or a graduate school.  Criteria include financial need, academic achievement, character, and involvement in the school and community.  To qualify, students must enroll full-time in a college/university or technical college beginning in the summer or fall immediately following high school graduation.

The Primary College Scholarship is for students attending a four-year college or university or a two-year technical college. The award amount is determined by the Lake Rabun Foundation Board of Trustees each year. In 2024, 15 students were awarded four-year college scholarships of $3,500/year, and five were awarded two-year technical college scholarships of $1,000/year.

The Technical College Two-Year Transfer Scholarship is for students who were awarded a Lake Rabun Technical College two-year Scholarship, attended up to two years in a degree-seeking program, and desire to complete their education at a four-year college/university.  The scholarship is an amount equal to two years of the four-year Lake Rabun Primary College Scholarship and is paid over two years.  This scholarship is only available to students who initially received a Lake Rabun Technical College Scholarship and attended said technical college within the last three years.

The Technical College Three-Year Transfer Scholarship is for students who were awarded a Lake Rabun Technical College two-year Scholarship, attended for one year in a degree-seeking program, and desire to complete their degree at a four-year college/university.  The scholarship is an amount equal to three years of the four-year Lake Rabun Primary College Scholarship and is paid over three years.  This scholarship is only available to students who initially received a Lake Rabun Technical College Scholarship and attended said technical college within the last three years.

The Graduate School Scholarship is for students who have completed their undergraduate degree under one of the Lake Rabun Primary College Scholarship programs within the last five years and desire to pursue a graduate degree.  This scholarship is a one-time payment awarded as the student begins his/her graduate program. To date, seven students have been awarded graduate school scholarships with a one-time payment of $5,000.

To retain their scholarships, students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher, remain in good standing with the school, and be enrolled full-time.
