Planned Giving Program “1915 Society”
The 1915 Society, named for the year Lake Rabun was created, was established to honor and recognize those who are helping to ensure the Foundation’s good works continue by including a planned gift as part of their overall estate planning. They are leaving a legacy that ensures the Foundation continues to serve its purpose of supporting the community for many years to come.
Types of Planned Giving
Gifts Through a Bequest
Often the simplest form of planned giving, this gift is accomplished by including a bequest in one’s will. The bequest would name the North Georgia Community Foundation for the Lake Rabun Foundation as a charitable beneficiary of the individual’s estate in a specific amount of cash or stock or a percentage of the estate’s residue. The bequest can be included when a new will is prepared or a codicil is added to an existing one. Please consult with your attorney regarding this gift option.
Gifts Through a Named Beneficiary
Naming the Lake Rabun Foundation as a beneficiary of an insurance policy is an easy way to make a gift. Simply request a change in beneficiary from your life insurance provider, add the North Georgia Community Foundation for the Lake Rabun Fund as a beneficiary of that policy, and return the form to the provider.
Naming the Lake Rabun Foundation as a beneficiary of the assets of a retirement plan or an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) is also a tax-efficient vehicle to employ in making a gift while eliminating estate taxes on retirement assets. Request a change of beneficiary form from your provider to make the change.
Designation
The planned gift, regardless of its source or form, may be designated to endow scholarship support or designated as an undesignated gift to support scholarships or local community grants, as the Foundation may determine best to further the Foundation’s mission.
Please notify the Foundation of your planned gift.
